THE GUILD
Every month the Australian Writers' Guild holds meetings, usually at Erroll's in North Melbourne. They are held on the first Tuesday of the month, at 6.30 pm. However the November meeting won't be until the second Tuesday, November 8, as the first Monday is the Melbourne Cup!
Our last meeting heard from Tim Ferguson, who has written a book about writing narrative comedy called The Cheeky Monkey.
Tim had a lot of wise words to say, and his book is well worth reading also. I wrote about what he said in Screen Hub. You can read it here.
On October 19 writer John Collee delivered the FOXTEL address, where he talked about his development as a writer from being a doctor to writing novels, working as a columnist and then writing films, including Happy Feet and Master and Commander. His talk was inspiring and fascinating. It will eventually be televised by FOXTEL.
